Pin your Recycle Bin to the taskbar

If you’d like easy access to your Recycle Bin so you don’t have to fish through the clutter of your desktop to find it, you can pin it to the taskbar. Problem is, in Windows 7, the Recycle Bin doesn’t act like a normal program icon does. You can’t drag it directly onto the taskbar for pinning.
Start by right-clicking on an empty area of the desktop, and select New > Shortcut. In the field that says, Type the location of the item, enter this text, then click Next:

%SystemRoot%\explorer.exe shell:RecycleBinFolder

43a-RecycleBin

You will be prompted to enter a name for the shortcut. Enter Recycle Bin(or really, anything you wish), then click Finish. This will place a shortcut onto your desktop that looks like a folder.
Next, you will need to add the actual Recycle Bin visual icon onto the shortcut. Right-click on the icon and select Properties. Then click theChange Icon button, select the Recycle Bin icon, and click OK. It looks like this:

43c-RecycleBin

Now, you can simply drag the icon onto your taskbar, and you are good to go. You can delete the shortcut on your desktop when you are done. And if you decide later that you want to remove the Bin from your taskbar, simply right-click on it and choose Unpin this program from taskbar.

How To Change Processor Name Permanently

Change Processor Name Permanently

Problem: To, make the name change permanent, it was required that the user updates the Processor Name String registry key each time when Windows starts.

Solution: It is very easy to change your processor name permanently by creating a registry key and placing a shortcut to it in the windows start up folder. To do so, just follow the steps given below:-

Change Processor Name Permanently

Steps :-

1.  Open Notepad.
2.  Copy and paste the exact code given below:-

Windows Registry Editor Version 5.00

[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\HARDWARE\DESCRIPTION\System\CentralProcessor\0]
"ProcessorNameString"="My Processor name 50000MHz"

To change the processor name, edit the part of the code given in blue. Also understand that \0 in the above code should only be present if Windows store your processor name at that location. Please open Registry Editor and navigate to the above mentioned keys to check whether or not to include the \0.

3.  Click on File Menu, click on Save As and select "All Types" in Save as Type option. Save the         file as ProcessorNameChange.reg or *.reg.
4.  Create a new shortcut on your desktop. Enter regedit / S "Location of the .reg file" as the               location of the item. For example, enter regedit /S "C:\Processor Name.reg" if your registry            file is located in the root of C:\ drive.

Processor Name

5.   Copy the created Shortcut file.
6.  Navigate to C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Start Menu\Programs\Startup (in Windows XP) or to C:\Users\ User-Name\AppData\Roaming\Microsoft\Windows\Start Menu\Programs\Startup (in Windows 8, Windows 7 and Windows Vista. Also remember that App Data is a hidden folder.)  if C: is your System drive.
7.  Paste the copied file.

This registry file would now execute each time when Windows starts and the Processor Name String would be modified each time. So, even upon restarting your computer, you will see that the changed processor name is permanent.

5 Tips to Improve Your Blog

5 Tips to Improve Your Blog

Tips Better Blog

Just about anyone can blog. But not everyone can blog well. There are several factors that go into setting your blog apart from the millions that are out there competing for attention. Here are 5 tips that you can use to make sure that blog stands ahead of the crowd:-

Tips For Better Blog

1. Self-host

Self-hosting your own website is one of the easiest ways to give your blog more credibility.  It also shows that you take your blog more seriously than someone that is utilizing a free blog site. And these days, it’s relatively cheap to host your own domain name. HostGator, Dreamhost, and Bluehost are three hosting companies that charge you about $10 a month (or less!) to self-host your website. You can even add a custom domain in most free blogging platforms if you don't want to move away.

2. Promote via social media sites

Social media websites for blog promotion

Facebook and Twitter are two great resources when it comes to promoting your blog. You can create a fan page on Facebook where you can link to your blog site and keep your readers engaged as well as grow your readership. Facebook is such a huge social media resource with the ability to reach millions of potential readers… why wouldn’t you want to take advantage of that? The same goes for Twitter, where you can post links to your current (and past) blog posts and also find different chat groups to participate in. Participating in chat groups is a great way to find people with the same interests as you. You don't have to be limited to just Facebook and Twitter. There are many websites you can be active on.

3. Headlines

You should write strong headlines that easily define what you are going to be talking about in your post. This not only peaks a readers interest, but also allows your blog to be more searchable. Strong doesn't necessarily mean something with flair though, it means something direct that immediately identifies what readers can expect to find in your post, and that will pop up in a search engine when someone types in a particular topic.

4. Write well

Readers can tell the difference between a post that has obvious time and effort put into it and one that is just slapped up to get something out there. Put time into what you’re posting about. People appreciate posts which are original and well thought out.

5. Layout

Your blog layout should be clean and easy to navigate. The design should be visually appealing without being overwhelming. No one wants to have to guess on where to find information. You should have a search bar where people can easily search topics and archives that readers can look through to see what else you’ve written. You should also include a contact page so that it’s easy for others to get in touch with you if they have questions or comments about something you’ve written, or want to get in touch with you about a potential business deal.

By putting these tactics into play you should be able to market your blog in a more effective way and increase your readership. It may take a little time on the forefront, but you will reap the benefits of these efforts in the end.

Speed up Windows 7 shutdown

At least in our early experiments with Windows 7, we have had no complaints about general speed for most basic Windows tasks. That said, there’s always room for improvement, and one of the areas in which some users will wish for some is in the shutdown and restart process. Especially if you do a lot of software installs and uninstalls, waiting for Windows to shut down in an orderly fashion can leave you tapping your fingernails on your desk for precious seconds.

There’s not a lot you can do about start up times, but shutdown is, to an extent, governed by settings in the Windows Registry. Tweaking these can accelerate shutdown a bit. As always, proceed with caution where the Windows Registry is concerned. Before you start tweaking, back up your data files, and, for safety’s sake, back up your Registry, too. (You can do this via the regedit command: Type regedit in the Start menu search box, then choose File > Export from the resulting Registry Editor window. Make sure All is selected under Export range.)

In the Start menu, type regedit into the search box and hit Enter. You’ll launch the Registry Editor, if you’re not already there from your Registry backup. Proceed with caution! All changes take effect in real time, so here’s not the place to experiment. Don’t poke around in places in the Registry if you’re not 100 percent sure what you’re doing.

In the left pane, navigate to HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE > SYSTEM > CurrentControlSet > Control. One of the options that should pop up in the right pane once you’re there is called WaitToKillServiceTimeout. You’ll want to change a value in this Registry entry, so right-click on it and choose Modify. You'll get an Edit String box:

41-SpeedWindowsshutdown

The default value you see may vary; on a Windows 7 desktop and laptop we tried this with, we saw a value of 12,000 (that’s in milliseconds); on a Vista laptop, we saw 20,000. We suggest changing it to 10,000, for starters. We definitely wouldn't get too aggressive (i.e., don’t try “0” if you value stability), but work your way down slowly.
And that’s it! Next time you restart and then shut down, you should see the faster result.

Make friends scare for VIRUS

Open notepad and type this:

lol=msgbox ("Warning a virus has been detected on your PC. Press YES to format your hard disk now or press NO to format your hard disk after system reboot",20,"Warning")

Then save it as Virus.VBS

and go to the folder that contains it and open it if a window pops out saying a virus has been detected it's working. Press yes or no to close the window and put it in the startup folder of the victim's account.

On startup the window should appear.
Note: This does not harm your computer as it does not contain virus.

The Yes and no button does not do anything except closing the window. And you can edit the virus in the sentence: Warning a virus has detected on your PC to any kind of virus

eg.Trojan Horse like this lol=msgbox ("Warning a Trojan horse has been detected on your PC. Press YES to format your hard disk now or press NO to format format your hard disk after system reboot",20,"Warning")

Oh in between make sure your victim does not panic and really reformat his hard disk....!

Show the Windows Desktop with a new shortcut

If you’re anything like us, once you have installed a new operating system or bought a new PC, you start out organizing files and documents with the best of intentions. But before long your Windows Desktop becomes your de facto filing cabinet, peppered with shortcuts, frequently used spreadsheets, random photos, and abandoned detritus. The easy way to access that debris field to find something—the Windows key + D combination, which minimizes all Windows for a clear view of the desktop—is a helper that most of us know.
1a-300Show-win-Desktop
Windows 7, though, lets you bring up the desktop without taking your hand off your mouse or pointing device—but it’s not obvious how until you stumble upon it. In the extreme lower right portion of the screen, at the far-right edge of the taskbar, you’ll see a little vertical rectangle with a “glossy” finish. Hover the mouse pointer over it, and the Windows Desktop appears, letting you inspect it. (You’ll still see ghostly outlines of the windows you have open.) Move the mouse off the rectangle, and your windows reappear. You can also activate this via a keyboard shortcut:Windows key + spacebar.

1b-400-Show-win-Desktop-key

Click on the rectangle, though (as opposed to hovering), and you’ll minimize all windows, allowing you to interact with the desktop, open folders, and the like. If you don’t open or maximize any new windows manually, clicking the rectangle a second time restores the view to the state it was in before you clicked.

Shut down Computer With Command Prompt or short cut for Shut down

Here is a trick to shutdown your computer at a specific time. You might be thinking what great about it, well you can shutdown your computer without the use of any software. Just shutdown your computer at specific time from RUN Command. For example if you wish to shutdown at 09:45 am. Type this in

Type Code: at 11:35 shutdown -s

To cancel or Abort the shutdown:

Type Code: shutdown -a

computer shutdown shortcut trick

Alternative method to create a shutdown timer or simply computer shutdown shortcut.

Step 1: Right click on your desktop and choose “New=>shortcuts”.
Step 2: In the box that says “Type the location of the shortcut”,
type in “shutdown -s -t 3600” without the quotation marks and click next.

Note: 3600 are the amount of seconds before your computer shuts down. So , this means 3600 seconds = 60 mints (1 hour). You can change the value in the above code. You can even create multiple shutdown shortcuts. For example a computer shutdown shortcut for 30 minutes, 1 hour, 2 hours, 5 hours etc.,

Step 3: Make up a name for the shortcut and you’re done.

Optional Step 4 : You can change the icon by right clicking=>properities=>change icon=>browse

To abort or cancel the shutdown:

To make an abort key to stop the shutdown timer just create another shortcut and make
the “location of the shortcut” to ” shutdown -a” without the quotes.

How to Fix a Slow Windows 7 Computer

Most people love using Windows 7. That’s because it’s by far the nicest and the most productive Microsoft operating system to date. But there can still be glitches, errors, and lags. The good thing about Windows 7 is that it has lots of tools to troubleshoot and repair a slow computer. Here is a guide to where to find them and how to use them.

1. Problem Steps Recorder

fix slow computer windows 7
Problem Steps Recorder is a great solution to get a detailed description of the problem, so that you can either review the report yourself or send it to a tech support team. Basically, this tool records everything happening on the computer that needs troubleshooting. It records all mouse clicks and everything that is pressed on the keyboard, takes screenshots, and then saves the report as a zipped MHTML file. This file can be easily emailed and analyzed. To enable Problem Steps Recorder, click on Start, type PSR and hit Enter. Then click on Start Record. To save a report, just stop recording your computer activity.

2. Troubleshoot problems

If something in Windows 7 starts behaving in a weird way and you have no idea why, go to the Control Panel, locate the “Find and fix problems” (Troubleshooting) option and you’ll be able to access the Windows 7 troubleshooting tools. They are easy-to-use wizards and can fix common problems, clean your system, check your settings, and lots more.

3. Discover bottlenecks

Under normal circumstances, Windows 7 easily outperforms Vista and XP. Nevertheless, your computer can still seem too slow from time to time. Most likely it’s an application or a process that’s slowing you down. Windows 7 makes it really easy to find bottlenecks with the help of Resource Monitor. Just click on Start, type RESMON and hit Enter to launch the tool. When it opens, click on the CPU, Memory, Disk and Network tabs to see which processes are hogging your system and using up your bandwidth. When you find the process that’s holding you back, you’ll be able to try to fix it right from the Resource Monitor. For example, if a process is locked up, right-click on it and select Analyze to see where the problem lies.

4. Repair your computer

If something goes seriously wrong and Windows 7 fails to start, it might be possible to repair your computer without the installation CD. Just boot your PC and press F8 during startup. You should see an option called Repair Your Computer. Select it and press Enter to see the recovery options Windows 7 has to offer.
These Windows 7 tools will help you troubleshoot and fix a slow computer in a quick and easy way. To prevent your computer from slowing down, use maintenance utilities like disk cleanup and defrag to keep your PC in top shape.

How To Lock a Folder With Password Using Free Folder Protector

Lock a Folder With Password Using Free Folder Protector

All of us have some files and folders that we consider private. They can be anything from our business documents to pictures of friends and family. These are files that we don't want other people using our computer to know about. As Windows offers no way to protect our private information, most of us get in awkward situations when these files are discovered by unwanted people.

Lock Folder Windows
Surely, you can store this information in a hidden folder. The only problem is that anyone can easily search the contents of a hidden folder using Windows Search itself.

The only viable solution is storing this content in a password protected folder so that only those people knowing the password of the folder can access it. There are many folder locking programs available online but the problem is that most of the good ones are paid. Even if you do manage to get a good free one, you will be looked at suspiciously when people see a folder locker in the list of your installed programs.

If you too find yourself in a similar situation, you can try Folder Protector, a password protector for Windows folders that is not only free but is also portable meaning that it does not need to be installed. Just click on the exe file and the program will start running. I have created this program based on suggestions and feature requests that I have received by email over the last two years.

Folder Protector

Folder Protector offers each user a protected folder that can only be opened by entering the password in FolderProtector. Unlike most security programs, Folder Protector is small in size (nearly 58KB) and does not show the folder that it is protecting. This gives an additional advantage that people who don't know the password do not have a target to try and hack their way into. As the software is portable, you can hide it or even delete it after protecting your folder and no one will have a clue that it was used. Then whenever you need to access protected files, you can re-download the program from this page, enter the password and access your protected files.

Download Folder Protector

Download for Windows 8, Windows 7 and Windows Vista

Download for Windows XP

How to use Folder Protector?
When you run Folder Protector for the first time, the program will ask you for a password that you want to use. Enter a password that you can remember as this will be the password to your protected folder.

Lock Folder With Password

After entering the password, the program will open a folder named SecuredFILES. This is your protected folder. You can add all your private files in this folder. This folder is located at the Desktop. After adding all your files, you may close this folder.

Then, you can use the menu in the program to lock your folder. To lock the folder, type lock as your action. After successfully locking the folder, FolderProtector will display that the folder is locked.

Free Folder Lock

Unlocking the protected folder is easy. Just type unlock as your action. Then the program will ask you to enter your password. Upon successfully entering the password, the program will display the contents of your protected folder.

Changing the Password: Just type change as your action. The program will ask you for your current password. Upon successful entry of the current password, the program will ask for your new password and change it instantly.

Acknowledgment: This software has been made possible only through the suggestions of readers of this blog, especially Ernell Albert Galido for his idea of using a menu based interface.

Windows Compatibility: This program has been successfully tested on Windows 8, Windows 7, Windows Vista and Windows XP.

Support and Development
I will continue to develop this software further. So, your suggestions are invited. If you face any problem while using this software, you can use our support page and expect a quick reply.
